Fundraising
As a fundraiser for South Coast Hospice,
it is both humbling and rewarding to strive towards our
sustainability. My motivation is in knowing that my efforts
contribute to a motivated hospice team that supports and cares for
patients and their families at a time when they need it most.
Many of our fundraising events can be
enjoyed by the whole family, with lucky draw prizes and raffles.
My intention is always to provide value for the money spent, whilst
insuring that we keep the expenses down. Not an easy feat in these
days of rising costs!
Highlights on our fundraising calendar
are Valentine and Mother’s Day Brunches and The Donkey Derby.
Sporting events are always popular, especially at Lake Eland and we
are privileged to benefit from Golf Days hosted on our quality golf
courses.
Meaningful International Hospice events;
Voices for Hospice, a
children’s fundraiser through schools, and
The Tree of Light, are a
must on our community’s calendar.
We, at South Coast Hospice, join together
with other charities in the annual
Tekkie Tax National event.
This year 2019, we stand proudly with all hospices in South Africa as an official Comrades Marathon Amabeadibeadi Charity. To be one of the Comrades Marathon 6 official charities is a great opportunity to fly our palliative care flags high. #Comrades2020. Iphupho Lami. Dare to Dream. Hospice will once again be hosting a stand at the Comrades Expo and a Refreshment Stand along the Comrades route.
The job of the fundraiser and team never
ends. Monthly debit orders, bequests, donation of goods for our
charity shops, donations of cleaning materials and meals for the
in-patient unit, and the donation of time from our volunteers are
all valuable to sustaining our organisation.
Finally – Gratefulness – through this
wonderful community that we serve, God blesses us daily and we sing
a never-ending song of praise.
Do you have a moment or two to spare?
Do you want to give back to the community in a small way?
SOUTH COAST HOSPICE needs your support.
Many hands make light work. A bunch of flowers, a container of soup, an hour or two, just once or twice a year.
Please contact Shamila at shamila@schospice.co.za or
Here's how you can help :
-
Donate a bouquet of flowers to the inpatient unit.
-
Provide 1 or 2 cooked meals for patients, such as chicken/veg soups and stews, that can be frozen, and jellies and custards. Fresh fruit and vegetables would also be appreciated.
-
Host visitors to the inpatient unit over weekends (direct visitors from the day care lounge to the unit, make tea, etc) This is a vital care for patients’ loved ones.
-
Assist at our charity shops.
-
Assist at fundraising events.
